TESCO Fruit and Veg - NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR GROUPS IN YOUR AREA

The Wise Group are introducing their fully funded "HEAT" service, which provides immediate one-to-one support to households across the UK struggling with energy bills or at risk/experiencing an energy crisis. We offer free end-to-end support to help stabilise household energy pressures and prevent issues escalating.

As a leading social enterprise with over 40 years’ experience in Employability, Community Justice, and Energy Advice, we understand the real impact of the energy crisis on vulnerable households. Every day we’re contacted by people choosing between heating and eating, households forced to off-grid to avoid daily standing charges and children taking cold showers because switching on the boiler is unaffordable. These could be your participants, colleagues, friends or family and we’re here to help.

Proven impact

Last year alone HEAT:

• Supported 23,000+ households across Scotland, England & Wales
• Reduced £371,000 in fuel debt by directly negotiating with energy suppliers on behalf of customers
• Delivered £4.7m in energy savings

Who we can support:

Our HEAT service is available to anyone in Scotland, England and Wales experiencing energy-related difficulties, with a particular focus on supporting the most vulnerable households, including those that:

• Are struggling with energy costs or fuel debt
• Are unemployed or on low incomes
• Are at risk of going off supply
• Require support to stabilise their situation
• Are over 65 or have disabilities / health conditions requiring higher energy use 

How we support households:

• Immediate, personalised support – referrals picked up within 1 working day with a dedicated energy mentor providing 1-to-1 expert support
• Crisis support – fuel vouchers or food vouchers (if eligible) for those at risk or off supply
• Energy debt help – direct negotiation with energy suppliers to reduce debt and agree manageable repayment plans (last year alone we reduced £371,000 of customer fuel debt)
• Billing support – help to resolve incorrect, complex or disputed energy bills
• Prevent disconnection – support to keep households on energy supply
• Money-saving energy advice – practical support to reduce energy use, cut waste and keep bills as low as possible
• Access to grants & schemes – help applying for financial support and energy schemes
• Stabilising households – supporting households from crisis to a more stable situation

Mobile Library Service

We’re pleased to confirm that we are now ready to finalise the plans to introduce a mobile library service to Hellifield. The service will be launched in January 2026.  The mobile library will visit every four weeks, at 11:45 am with each visit lasting approximately 1 hour. The vehicle will park in the car park on Back Lane. Dates for 2026 are listed below

Collapsing retaining wall, Main Road Gargrave NYC are proposing: 

• Lane closure and 2-way signals to be implemented in the morning (Friday 3 October) and footway closure
• Proposing to remove the pedestrian island so the road can remain fully open to traffic, asap
• Verge below highlighted to be closed off, ped route closed signs etc. 
• Removal of road studs (cats) eyes and blacking out road markings
• Instruction to a contractor to clear vegetation on Saturday (4 October) under 2 way signals
• Structures Engineers are meeting a contractor on site next week to discuss options for a rebuild, hopefully works will be completed before Christmas
• Approx 4 weeks before mobilisation on site and dependant on discussions, we may be able to work in the space available 2 way traffic rather than lane closure / 2 way signals which would be much better from a network disruption perspective
