North Yorkshire Police based at Settle Police Station cover Hellifield and Long Preston.
The police advice is to report any information or suspicious activity to the police as soon as possible using the non urgent number 101 or 999 in urgent cases.
North Yorkshire Police use Ringmaster community messaging to issue messages related to crime, missing persons or forthcoming meetings, via email, text, voice or fax.
Examples of use of the system may be the circulation of details of a vehicle we wish to trace or a description of a person seen in the vicinity of a crime, or simply to inform you of the types of crime that have occurred in your area so that you can take the relevant crime prevention measures and advise others to do the same. Remember, that just because details of a vehicle or person are circulated by the police, it does not necessarily mean they have committed a crime or offence, as often people can be acting quite lawfully in some cases and may be potential witnesses.
With your vigilance, you can help North Yorkshire Police make a significant difference in preventing and detecting crime. More information on how to join can be found here:NY Police Ringmaster
We recognise that Ringmaster is an effective tool that supports the activities of many local Watch schemes, with co-ordinators sharing this information with other scheme members. If you are interested in joining a current Watch scheme, or might be interested in starting a new scheme in your area please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
